How to Get Around Cinque Terre by Boat
Cinque Terre Holiday: Useful Information about Boats in Cinque Terre.
If you have limited time, we recommend getting around by train. It's faster and more cost-effective. However, if you have more time, consider taking a boat because it offers a completely different perspective of the coastline. The sections between Monterosso - Vernazza - Manarola are particularly picturesque.
Boats run less frequently than trains, are more expensive, and the journey takes longer. There is NO dock in Corniglia; if you want to visit Corniglia, you'll have to get there by foot or by train. Additionally, boats can take you to the beautiful village of Portovenere, where trains do not operate.
Boat Schedule in Cinque Terre for 2025
Boats begin operating between villages at the end of March, running daily until the end of October, except on days when the sea is rough (this cannot be predicted in advance, but it occurs a few days each month).

Boat Ticket Price in Cinque Terre for 2025 year
Boat travel is NOT included in the Cinque Terre Card. You need to purchase a ticket separately.
An unlimited ticket for boat travel between La Spezia, Portovenere, and the villages of Cinque Terre costs 41 euros for one day. For more information on prices, please refer to the table.
Legend for the table:
-----> - NO stops in one direction. Example: Riomaggiore - Monterosso (15 euros), single-use ticket, the boat stops at all villages, you stay on board.
-|-|-> - Stops in one direction. Example: Riomaggiore - Monterosso (30 euros), multi-use ticket, you can get off at Manarola and Vernazza.
<----> - NO stops there and back. Example: Riomaggiore - Monterosso (30 euros), you can go to Monterosso without stops and then return back.
<-|-|-> - Stops there and back. Example: Riomaggiore - Monterosso (41 euros), you can move unlimitedly on this stretch in both directions (unlimited).

Can I Buy Boat Tickets Online or in Advance?
You can purchase boat tickets online on this website: navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it, but the prices may be slightly higher, and not all routes may be available for purchase. Tickets are readily available on-site at each port just before boarding. In August and on weekends in July, we recommend arriving at the dock at least half an hour before the boat's departure.
Is it easy to reach the boat in each village? Are there any stairs?
In La Spezia, Portovenere, Vernazza, and Monterosso, reaching the dock is very easy, and there are no stairs.
In Manarola, you'll need to descend a very narrow staircase to board the boat.
In Riomaggiore, getting to the dock is the most challenging, as there are many stairs.
In Corniglia, boats do not make stops.
Is It Worth Taking a Boat from La Spezia to Cinque Terre?
This journey will take you one and a half hours to reach the first village, Riomaggiore, by boat, while the train will get you there in just 7 minutes and is much cheaper. If your time is limited, we recommend taking the train.
